About The Role:
The Water Civil Engineer plays a key role in supporting Bathurst Resources' mine closure, rehabilitation, and resource development activities through the design, planning, and delivery of practical water management and civil engineering solutions. Working closely with our Resource Development, Operations, and Environmental teams, you'll help ensure our sites achieve their operational, environmental, and long-term closure objectives.
This role is heavily focused on surface water management, drainage design, erosion and sediment control, landform development, and mine closure engineering. You'll contribute to a range of projects from concept development and modelling through to construction support and implementation, helping to deliver sustainable outcomes across Bathurst's operations and future developments.
The ideal applicant will hold a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil or Environmental) and have experience in civil, water, environmental, or mining engineering. You'll bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills, enjoy working across multidisciplinary teams, and be confident balancing technical requirements with practical operational needs. Experience with hydrological modelling, GIS, civil design software, and surface water infrastructure design will be highly regarded.
Key responsibilities include:
- Actively champion health, safety, environmental compliance, and risk management by ensuring all work is performed in accordance with Bathurst Resources' Health, Safety, Environment and Community policies and systems.
- Support mine closure and rehabilitation activities through the planning, design, and implementation of final landforms, rehabilitation works, closure infrastructure, and long-term environmental management solutions.
- Lead and support surface water management studies, including catchment assessments, runoff modelling, hydrological and hydraulic analysis, and the development of practical water management strategies.
- Design and optimise drainage systems and associated infrastructure, including channels, culverts, spillways, diversion drains, sediment control structures, erosion protection measures, and water conveyance networks.
- Prepare detailed engineering designs, technical documentation, specifications, and construction packages that support safe and efficient project delivery.
- Utilise engineering, GIS, and design software to develop digital landform models, drainage concepts, terrain analysis, and water management solutions.
- Provide technical support to operational and resource development projects, including project planning, contractor engagement, construction quality assurance, risk assessments, and technical reviews.
- Manage and review the work of specialist consultants and contractors, ensuring engineering outputs meet project requirements, environmental objectives, and Bathurst standards.
What you will bring to the role:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Mining, Civil, Environmental or Water Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience in Mine Closure, Rehabilitation, Civil, Environmental or Water Engineering project environments.
- Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills
