Trades Assistant - Stockton Mine

Bathurst Resources Ltd currently operates Stockton Opencast Mine which is located close to the coast on a plateau in the Buller coalfield, 35 km north of Westport. This is one of New Zealand’s largest mines with a long history of coal production and produces high value coal for export to the world’s leading steel makers.

To strengthen our Mobile Plant team, we are filling the role of:

Trades Assistant 

Reporting to the Mobile Plant Supervisor, this role is responsible for assisting tradespeople in the Mobile Plant workshop. You will be helping with servicing of heavy machinery, this includes doing oil changes, collecting components from the on-site store, spotting/assisting with moving vehicles, washing equipment and general duties to help with the day-to-day operation of the workshop.

The successful candidate will be looking for an opportunity to develop their mechanical skills and gaining experience in a heavy machinery environment.

The roster for this position is on a Rotating Day/Night Shift 7-on-7-off, 12 hours shifts.

To be successful in the role you will have:

• A current driver’s licence
• NCEA Level 1 English
• Positive attitude, motivated and enthusiastic
• An interest in machinery
• Experience in the Heavy Industry preferred
• A strong Health and Safety focus
• Excellent attendance record
• Tidiness and good housekeeping is a must have

The Mobile Plant Team is a department with a variety of on-going tasks, focused on maintaining a productive mobile plant fleet.
