Stockton Mine - Large Excavator Specialist

About Us

Bathurst Resources Ltd currently operates Stockton Opencast Mine which is located close to the coast on a plateau in the Buller coalfield, 35 km north of Westport.

This is one of New Zealand’s largest mines with a long history of coal production and produces high value coal for export to the world’s leading steel makers.

To strengthen our Mobile Plant at Stockton Open Cast Mine, we are filling the position of Large Excavator Specialist, working 5/2 Mon-Fri (10hours) rotating days and afternoon shifts.

The Role

Reporting to the Mobile Plant Supervisor, this role is responsible for maintaining mobile equipment in line with OEM practices and provide expert knowledge and guidance in relation to large excavators. It is also assisting to develop maintenance strategies to improve operational availability and reduce breakdowns on mobile equipment.

The successful candidate will ideally have recent experience in a similar position and be looking for an opportunity to join a progressive team.

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Trades Qualification as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic
  • Experience in the Mining Industry preferred
  • Extensive large excavator experience (preferably Hitachi knowledge)
  • A strong Health and Safety focus
  • Proven diagnostic skills on heavy equipment
  • Excellent attendance record
  • Tidiness and good housekeeping is a must have 

The Mobile Plant Team is a department with a variety of on-going tasks, focussed on maintaining a productive mobile plant fleet.
