Mobile Plant Pit Supervisor - Rotowaro 10280

About Us:

Bathurst Resources is New Zealand’s largest specialist coal company. We produce over 2.2 million tonnes of coal each year and proudly employ over 450 people.  Our Rotowaro mine, located 10km west of Huntly is set to increase production and we are looking for an experienced Mobile Plant Pit Supervisor to join our Maintenance Team.

The Role:

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the role is to provide effective supervision to the excavator maintenance crew to deliver the requirements in terms of safety, leadership, plant service delivery, and cost. Additionally, the role is to ensure all allocated excavators on site are maintained to the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) standards and provided ‘fit for purpose’ to the mining operations teams for safe and efficient use in achieving the business plan. The aim of this role is to effectively supervise the execution of all activities to ensure all preventative and breakdown service work is carried out to the OEM specification and quality, in accordance with all Health, Safety and Environment standards.

Day to Day Duties:

  • To assign and delegate maintenance tasks to available resource with the competency to ensure quality completion, in a timely manner.
  • All mobile plant / excavators on site are maintained to the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) standards and meet ‘fit for purpose’ standards to ensure safe, efficient and reliable use.
  • Ensuring all work activities are correctly recorded, logged and corrected safely and efficiently
  • Maximise the utilisation and proper maintenance and use of tools, parts and materials.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities
  • To work with Scheduling and Planning for on-going planned and unplanned maintenance and servicing
  • Ensue critical spare componentry and parts are available on site
  • To oversee all maintenance shuts ensuring work is carried out to Bathurst’s safety standards and is in line with the maintenance plan
  • Organizing parts/quotes with OEM suppliers
  • Audit inspections, create work orders
  • Defect management   

Skills & Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years post qualification in an engineering trade
  • Extensive knowledge & experience in a range of heavy earthmoving excavators & equipment and ancillary plant such as Liebherr, Hitachi, Caterpillar, and Komatsu large excavators; Liebherr R9400, R9250, 994, 984; Komatsu PC4000; CAT 330G; Hitachi ZX470
  • Mechanical knowledge to a level of understanding of equipment capabilities, maintenance schedules, and preventative maintenance methods
  • Proven supervisory and leadership skills, and experience in the mining industry preferred
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Full NZ driver’s licence with role relevant endorsements
