Fleet Technology Engineer - Stockton Mine

Bathurst Resources Ltd currently operates Stockton Opencast Mine which is located close to the coast on a plateau in the Buller coalfield, 35 km north of Westport. This is one of New Zealand’s largest mines with a long history of coal production and produces high value coal for export to the world’s leading steel makers.

To Strengthen our Technical Services Team, we are filling several positions of:

Fleet Technology Engineer

Reporting to the Fleet Technology Superintendent, this role provides software and electronics capabilities in the field of mining fleet technology. This includes the software and hardware systems that provide high precision GPS guidance of mining equipment.

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Software Engineering or Electronics with the ability to demonstrate high capability in software development
  • Strong Software Engineering skills, including knowledge of C/C++/STL, and developing for embedded systems.
  • Good understanding of the Linux operating system including development tools such as GCC, Python & Bash.
  • Web technology including Node.js & JavaScript.
  • Good understanding and experience with databases (particularly PostgreSQL), and the ability to develop custom SQL queries.
  • Electronics and computing hardware experience. A basic understanding of electronics theory.
  • Excellent planning, organisational and control skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and learn on the job
  • High level of energy and motivation with a desire to achieve results

The Technical Services Team is a department with a variety of on-going tasks, focused on the planning and development of the open cast coal mine.
